Ojude Oba 2017 was a memorable festival which is celebrated by all indigenes of Ijebu's, it usually comes up during the Ileya period and it has been one of the most celebrated festival in the country. This year's beauty pageant was won by a student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Afolabi Mariam 300 level mass communication department amidst many participants. The beauty pageant is one of the programme set up by GLO in Ijebu ode to award the most beautiful queen which comes up at Equity resort hotel as part of Ed-el-kabir celebration. The contest was between ten ladies which involves two OOU students, Oguntimehin Ayomide (300 level mass communication student) alongside the winner. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced a conditional suspension of it nationwide industrial action. ASUU’s decision followed a reconciliation meeting with a Federal Government team which held today (Monday) in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. The talks with the Federal Government team came after about two weeks following the union’s consultations with its various chapters on the terms of agreement earlier reached by both parties. ASUU had been on strike since August 14, over unpaid arrears and demands for improved infrastructure in the universities. A reconciliation meeting with the Federal Government on August 17 had failed to resolve the dispute, but fresh undisclosed offers were made to the lecturers. Another reconciliation meeting held on August 29 also ended in deadlock, as ASUU insisted on seeing the government act on their demands.
